Our Investors

Stanford University opened in 1891, founded by Leland and Jane Stanford, who, within weeks of the 1884 death of their only child, committed their wealth to doing something for “other people’s” children. They created a university that, from the outset, was nontraditional: co-educational; nondenominational; and avowedly practical. Today, Stanford University is a research-intensive university organized into seven schools, as well as two dozen institutes and research centers.

Sutter Hill Ventures (SHV) is a venture capital firm that finances technology-based start-up and early-stage companies pioneering products or services in growth markets, especially those in information technology or health care. Founded in 1962, it is one of Silicon Valley’s original venture capital firms. Companies backed by Sutter Hill include nVidia, BroadVision, Vitria, Thermawave, Alteon, and eLoyalty.
